To your point, the top MM banks ( Jefferies, Blair, etc.) tend to deal with more quality assets and it does make the marketing side easier (way easier to sell a product that doesn't suck.) And yes, larger, more successful companies generally give you better financial model & marketing deck templates to run with than do scrappy, sub-scale companies who have never worked with bankers or done an institutional transaction before.īest advice I can give you in your current predicament is try to think of the story. I do feel for you though, in that I've worked for a LMM boutique before where we only get engagements for schmucky assets/companies and it makes writing a compelling CIM massively harder. Writing CIMs is a major part (if not the main part) of being an Analyst, no matter where you are. If they do, is it a more straightforward process because the more established companies in the MM+ have better materials that you can use to learn and write about the companies? So far for me, this has been the absolute worst part of IB. I would like to know if analysts even need to write CIMs at larger firms. For example, in response to the questions that I sent them, the company that I'm currently writing the CIM on sends me 10 audio recordings of them speaking about random things about the industry without answering my questions.

The materials are usually full of marketing words that exaggerate parts of of the company without going into the details of the company.The materials they send usually have horrible grammar.There are typically aspects of the companies that sound extremely bad I'm not sure if this is an issue that is specific to LMM companies, but I've been asked to write full CIMs at both of these firms and I've had a hard time with both of them for a couple of reasons: As I only recently decided to switch into finance, I interned for a month at another small LMM boutique before switching to the one I'm currently FT.

More information and instructions on how to use the Writefull tool can be downloaded here.I'm currently working at a boutique that is focused on the LMM. Writefull Revise and Writefull Cite work in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
The number in parentheses indicates how likely it is that the footnote is needed. After loading the finished text, the tool shows where the footnote is missing. Writefull Cite allows you to identify fragments of the cited texts with missing bibliographic records.
Just load the finished text and the tool will suggest where you need corrections. Writefull Revise is used to analyze the linguistic correctness of already prepared texts, it checks, among others, grammar, vocabulary or online text stylistics.
NOTE: To register in the application, you must use an email account in the UW domain!
The Writefull for Word plug-in can be downloaded from and Writefull for Overleaf from Plugin must be installed to use Writefull for Word and Writefull for Overleaf. Writefull for Overleaf is currently supported by Google Chrome, Chromium, and Brave. Writefull for Word Online and macOS can be used with Microsoft Office 365, Word Online, and Office 2016 or later.
